I'll try to to make another scan and reproduce the issues you are having and solving mine scanning negatives without blocking.
I am not with my scanner/files for the next couple of weeks...
I'll try to arrange something. The screenshot is a lossless png of the lab-scan, but I am pretty sure it's not 48bit anymore...
...
I haven't been able to use my scanner for a while but recently I've tried your tipps on Portra 400. The results are just lousy, something is still completely off:
I've scanned it in Lab with...
I did a first quick test and it looks much better than before!
Finally I can test some Portra 400 4x5^^
Do you use a special software to create the profile from the target?
I see some...
Thank you so much!
It's obvious to me that my scanning has been really sub-standard by comparison, your scans (Ektar and Provia) are quite impressive!#
One last question since I'm not really...
@sdzsdz
Thank you so much for your helpful advice! You changed profiles so it is scanned as a negative though you used the positive function? How did you do that?
Thank you very much, I will try that!
Would somebody be willing to share the secret to turn off sharpening when using Newcolor? They deactivated my Yahoo-account and I don't want to create a new account...
Thank you!
I think Tim Parkin worked hard on creating profiles to scan Portra with his Tango properly.
The weak point of the Tango is it's software:
- Linocolor: limited to PowerPC-based Macs and 8bit
-...
The Nexscan is a scanner actually manufactured by Linotype-Hell/Heidelberg in Kiel and the successor to the more popular Topaz. It's a professional scanner and has little to do with their prosumer...
So the claim of Lasersoft that Silverfast works on Win7 was never checked by anyone?
I will keep the G4 running but would be thankful for any configuration tips regarding Tango + Silverfast and...
Thanks so far
The G4 is simply too slow (it also crashes when trying to transfer data to an USB-stick and handling Newcolor, sometimes it crashes Newcolor on it's own) and really old hardware but...
Yes the hardware was working well otherwise. Support could not help. I just would like to use a reliable machine to run my scanner and not another outdated computer/no longer supported...
I tested the old 2940 with Win7 32bit as well - Silverfast does not recognize the scanner
I used the 2930LP with Win7 x64 and the original drivers - same problem
Tanks. Just to clarify, it works with my G4, but the G4 is awfully slow, easy to crash and 17 years old...
When I make the switch to Silverfast (which is not even supported anymore, no updates, no...
I am sick of using this awful G4 with Newcolor (Newcolor for PC is useless due to the sharpening-bug) and scared that it's hardware might fail someday.
So I wanted to give Silverfast a second...
I am definitely interested in vertical 10x4! i have to figure how to do that, currently I can only flip it in one position due to the tripod legs being in the way - still considering a geared head......
Thanks, the Expert drums can use 4x10 without any modification?
Thank you very much! I hope I can present some nice images this year!
I simply have no need for accessory shoe so I decided to go without it, the front spirit level is usally mounted on a piece of...
I finally got my dream camera: an Ebony SW410E !
Since information on the internet is sparse, I try to share my experiences in this thread:
why an Ebony?
I first saw it during Photokina...
I would finally like to order TMY2 - what is currently the best offer? For me it would be 100$ in Germany right now?
Just to make something clear: Mr. Sakanashi clearly stated that he is unable to underbid it's national distributors - according to him he relies on them.
But here is the price difference between a...
It will be 11 days :-)
I am sorry for your experience, but I was convinced by the build quality of two different Ebony models I handled myself. Way ahead of what was presented to me by Shen Hao, Chamonix or other Chinese/...
I finally got an respone, apparently, there was a technical issue. I am looking forward to meeting the master himself and at least ordering the camera of my dreams! I cannot wait^^
That was the idea, but I wonder if it will happen...
It is something different to get it from the manufacturer (even if it doesn't become cheaper) directly than letting a reseller order it for you... IMHO
@nissin
Thank you!
I will be in Tokyo, so the whole idea was to pick it up not at some reseller (I could do the same in Germany) but at the manufacturer. I spoke to Mr. Sakanashi 2 years ago and he said it would be no...
It took some more time than intended but I finally wanted to order an Ebony SW410E. I quickly got an reply that Mr. Sakanashi is out of office for a couple of days and will reply soon... That was 4...
Hallo! I own a Heidelberg Tango which is pretty much the same device as the D8200 (worse mounting station). What questions do you have?
Look for a user named "carum" (I think he is active on this board as well, at least on the German one) - he is using a Nexscan.
It is considered one of the best flatbed-scanners ever made....
Good luck with your business!
May I ask how you made the Tango work with Silverfast? I failed to make it work with Win7 x86 and x64, Ratoc and Adaptec 2930lp?
I finally had some time again to use my Heidelberg. I got an Adaptec 2930LP-SCSI-card which can be used under Win7 64Bit (and works according to Silverfast).
But when I try to run the Silverfast...
Damn, was in NYC and B&H was closed, wish I had brought some with me to Germany! Unfortunately, shipping and taxes don't make it very attractive...
@barr405
You have a PM, hope it helps!
Switched from Sinar F to a Canham - never looked back. It's not less sturdy than the Chinese wood cameras but better built. Ebony and high-end-metal studio cameras might be better but heavier and...
Try to get your hands on a pro-flatbed (Scitex Eversmart (not Jazz), Kodak Iqsmart2/3, Linotype-Hell/Heidelberg Topaz or Nexscan) which offer good (superior to Minolta or Nikon film-scanners)...
You can also get a Linhof Kardan GTL which might be the most sturdy studio camera. But Arca or Sinar (P2) might be just as good. I've tested Shen Hao on Photokina, sorry but you get what you pay...
A small German company from Wetzlar (I think the founder was an Ex-Leitz-engineer) called Heiland makes the so-called "Splitgrade-system" as an LED-version:
