I keep some electrical tape wrapped around a tripod leg for such emergencies...very nice image!

Thanks Vaughn. I usually have a small roll of Gaff (Cloth Duct?) Tape but had left it in my other bag that day! Never again! It made for a very challenging day of photography. I was very grateful to David West who runs a gallery in Springdale and was able to sell me a cheap replacement tripod that I used for the rest of the trip.
