I think there has been a dip in the soft focus market in the recent months. Yet with all the new attention to wet plate and big brass moving forward, I am sure with tax season coming around and checks coming in from Uncle Sam we will see some surge. Yet this is just a guess.
Heck from all the folks that bought cars at the dealerships our family owns, you would think everyone hit the lotto! Refund check as down payments.
I am glad I got what seems to be the high water mark for my Verito, but this seems to have been a fluke.
For the self employed, this is often a tough time of year with regard to taxes or seasonal fluctuations in business.
Prices on antiques always fluctuate, and it's hard to even get an average with the volatile lens sales. If you had 3 identical Veritos and sold one every two weeks, your price spread would vary 30% or more. This thread usually, with VERY few exceptions, points out only the high water marks.

I don't agree with your disagreement. (Respectfully.) Of course only the high prices are listed. If you bought a lens on the low side would it be smart to report that price here, if you had any intention of reselling it later?
So then, this thread is just a manipulated vehicle, part of that larger secret lens mafioso for us guys that buy and sell and are becoming rich as Creces in the bargain. Silly me. Somebody should get an honest thread going to report honest prices paid!
This is not about rich or bargain or whatever... The question is "Have you (I mean you, not everyone) ever reported all your low-price soft focus (or petzval/...) lenses (purpose to resell or even to use) that you bought on craigslist/won on ebay/bought at flea market... here?"
As Garrett said, not many bargains has been showed here. However I believe that this thread has contributed to increase soft focus lenses price.
Life = Love + Passion + Responsibility
If you sell lenses, you might report the higher prices, but if you are buying, you might be inclined to report the bargains. It all averages out, and I see some bargains and some high prices on Dan's cumulative list. Mostly, I see some variations clumped around the average of what they usually go for. I doubt there's a hidden conspiracy...
