Gitzo G 504 Tele Studex Giant + Bogen 3047 or 405 geared head

Hard to find but if you can get one used it's well worth it. This is with my 4x5 Horseman but I've used it with 8x10

Best of all it goes high.

Big Gitzo does everything right if you don't have to carry it far.

Great photos guys! Man that is high. I've never had the need, but... and My Manfrotto legs just wont do that. Those legs don't look much heavier, or thicker than mine, so I'm impressed it's ok with 8x10.

They are ~1.5 inches but the tubing isn't as important as the joints and design. Everything is heavier and tighter than the same sized Manfrotto.

I am more impressed with the amount of brushing that was done for the set-up!

Of course some people swear by wood, like Darius Kinsey:

    BUT Ansel used a Gitzo:

That's overkill. An orchard ladder would do fine for the weight and be more stable on uneven ground.
