Soft Focus with an ancient achromatic Meniscus lens.

Soft focus is an acquired taste. If you hate it, I have no quarrel. If you love it, you may enjoy having a look at work done with my most recent lens purchase.

    It's a little 8 1/4 inch landscape meniscus with a powerful punch.

If anyone knows anything about the LBB & Co. I'd love to learn more about it. The shots on the pages are done wide open. There is no aperture. It has script and was sold with lenses of the Holmes Booth and Haydens era.

Working with a 5X7 Speed Graphic and this lens is wonderfully freeing. No movements to bother with. You simply select the best focus trade off and what you see is...........

    sort of.........

    what you get. Have fun.

Gorgeous stuff, Jim! I'm not surprised somehow that you can be so at home with these odd old lenses so quickly. And it's like I keep telling you, there's a fine line between a P&S and a POS...

Mr. Galli displays a fine blend of the artist and the explorer, getting beautiful images while he's conducting another dialog. Great shots of the ornaments and mirrors, Jim.
