    Re: Post your trains!

Sorry to bump next to my post, but I filled up my five image threshold.

    Here's a couple old 4x5 Tri-X negatives.

Union Pacific "Centennial" locomotive 6946 sits outside the enginehouse at Portola, California in June of 2002. Tachihara 4x5 Field, Nikkor 150mm ƒ5.6 lens, Kodak Tri-X.

California Norhern's "Corning Flyer" rolls past an elderly searchlight signal near Maxwell, California in August of 2001. Tachihara 4x5 Field, Nikkor 150mm ƒ5.6 lens, Kodak Tri-X.

Trains are my favorite subject. The scans aren't very good, but here are a few of mine.

I'll have to post some pictures of some abandoned train lines that go into my favorite abandoned ammunition factory.

When I get my transparencies scanned I post some here!

    I hope this qualifies --

    Photographer unknown -

    Train unknown -

    Year unknown -

But that's my grandfather, a career engineer, on the train.

Interesting. Looks like he's in the cab of a C&O E7A?

Can't vouch for the type of train --

But yes, C&O -- he worked for them for 60+ years.

the 29 spot at Virginia City

Took the 2 grand laddies for their first steam train ride. I moved them out into the cattle car on the ascent back up the hill so they could experience breathing smoke and soot for a few long seconds in tunnel 3. Have to make an impression, that's why they've got me.

Done with the 5X7 Top Handle and an 1859 meniscus lens wide open at f5.5
