Unless you are doing a LOT of processing, I think a chiller is a bit overkill. I have a darkroom with a big sink but no chilled water. When it is warm, I keep a bucket of ice cubes handy and toss in a few when the temp starts to rise.

Wait until you have to replace the pump because a little piece of ice went in the wrong way.... Use the frozen bottles - it's way cheaper in the long run.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Y'all have convinced me that temperature and lack of plumbing are manageable. Can anyone address my other questions?

The quantities above are based on using D-76 1:1 (750ml/6 sheets), Xtol 1:1 (500ml/10 sheets) or Rodinal 1:50 (765/6 sheets) for 6-10 sheets of 4x5 film in a 3010 Expert tank.

If my developer choices are questionable, we'll cover that at another time.

I do not have a 3010 tank, but the CPP-2 can handle 1000 ml in the 3005 and 3006 tanks, so I do not think that will be a problem. I backed off to 800 in the 3006 but not because of the lift or the tank.

The 3010 expert drum will handle up to 1 liter of fluid. What I do is for 1:1 xtol I use one liter of this for 10 sheets, or 100ml/sheet for less than ten. There's a help file on the Jobo site with fluid minimums and maximums. See http://www.jobousadarkroom.com/instr...pert_drums.htm

I don't put a heck of a lot of faith in that lift handle. When you have a drum on the lift, give it an assist with your right hand and NEVER prop it up on the handle stop.

A friend of mine just snapped his lift handle, so I certainly second that - be careful, especially with the big drums. My buddy looked quite annoyed - hopefully you won't have to with due care.

The base of the handle is a $10 part - worth keeping a spare one on hand...

    Cool Thanks everyone!

    Thank you all!

Now, the $64 question: What is a fair price to pay for a CPP-2 and some tanks, reels, bottles, etc. to go with it? I've looked at ebay and don't see many for sale. Just curious.

    Re: Jobo CPP-2 processor questions

I got my unit with many extras and used for about $750. It had the lift and a good assortment of 35mm and 120 developing reels and tanks included. The prices on the bay right now seem to be over $850 and some sales are $1200 or more. Those seem high to me for used equipment- if you have patience on your side I would think you could get a deal similar to mine after the new year when prices start dropping. As sa side note, I have been picking up odds and ends for my system and have been monitoring JOBO auctions regularly for a while now and there always seems to be at least one or two up for auction at just about any time.
