Should be 1840 but I am not 100% sure.
267 is listed as 1840. no.677 1842/3?
Alex
As some of you know I have been studying Voigtlander serial numbers for some time now - previously published records were off in some years... I believe # 677 would be 1842 but quite possibly 1843. I just acquired whole plate # 611 myself !!
See http://antiquecameras.net/voigtlanderlenses.html
I dont believe all that many were made in 1840. I believe the first prototype was made in May of 1840. And they spent time making lenses for their all metal camera early on, so the number of individual lenses in the 1840-1843 period is still a bit fuzzy. A friend on this board is reading a book on Voigtlander, written in German to help with this research.

PS - Is that lens for sale? If its whole plate, I could make the earliest stereo lens pair in existence !!

Until someone borrows a couple of meniscus lenses from a Museum! If its whole plate, I could make the earliest stereo lens pair in existence !!
I'm old fashioned and don't feel that you talk about stereo lens pairs until Stereoscopy was invented in 18**!! Of which I know nothing about- but assume it was after 1842?
Thanks for the help.
And yes it WAS for sale. Just bought it (with the attached camera....)
