Matus,
oXYgen works on Intel Macs. AFAIK neither the Pro or Pro II will work on an Intel machine without the 5K upgrade. As the sit the are firmware limited i terms of both hardware and software.

Yes, oXYgen runs on Intel Macs.
As for prices on the IQ2 and IQ3. The 2 is ~ 10K and the 3 is ~ 19K. Both these prices reflect a rebate (2K on the 2 and 2.5K on the 3). This rebate is available...
Agree with Gene. The emulsions Fuji offers are great, I find I am preferring them to the comparable Polaroid product. BTW, I am finding that FB100B works better at ISO 160 than at the suggested 100.
OTOH, there is little hope that we will see much i the way o service or exchange as time marches on and remaining stock diminish. Remember, it is unlikely they will be manufacturing T54 much longer,...
And, gulp, focusing a Rollei.
Claudio,
We're into the 21st C .... firewire and run on OS 10.4.x with an upgrade to 10.5 due momentarily.
Matus, the Seybold report referenced above i probably the most comprehensive report on...
Thanks to all who came yesterday. A grand time was had by all. We had over thirty folks. Gary Samson took a 12x20 group shot late in the day. Richard Ritter had his 7x17 and 8x10 on display. ...
The article is in today's Boston Globe http://www.boston.com/travel/explorene/articles/2008/04/20/get_with_a_pro_and_start_shooting/
Sandy's comments on the operation of the Cezanne are correct.
One needs to be bit careful with the Creo Jazz and Jazz+. These are good scanners but they were not manufactured by Creo, they are...
I just saw this thread. Thanks for all the kind comments.
Congratulations Robb.
Really nice spread. Impressive.
Tight head shot portraits, some landscapes where you can't get close enough to the main interest, etc.
Send me an email using a real name an a bit of detail and I'll be happy to send you his email.
I use vistaprint.com for biz cards and postcard, etc. Way better an less expensive than local options.
If you can find a refurb of the 4990 or the 700 in the Epson store that is the way to go; otherwise, the Microtek i800 is the only choice in new machines and it isn't going to get you to 16x20.
Same with the Horseman 6x9.
The 8850 is virtually the same printer as the 9180 with a few differences:
--no ethernet connection
--no front panel led readout
--does not take paper weights as heavy as the 9180
The...
I have used virtually all of the plastic holders available in my Canham, never a problem. Can't speak for older wooden or all metal holders.
In response to several inquiries, this confirms that I will not be attending the event in Fort Collins and that Kirk and I are canceling the preconference scanning workshop. I've requested again...
Bill,
I have a local associate who has a dead Pro and would be willing to part with it very inexpensively .... he has all the tuff you need. PM if iterested.
Sandy, I have tried both autopano and hugin and they are both good products.
What Sandy says except that I can handle slightly larger files (~2GB) and from 4x5 or larger that gives me all I (think :)) I will ever need. BTW when you get to this size you start running into all...
What Bruce says. Plus, generally, it is best to do all your scanning at the highest resolution your scanner can handle (~2400 for consumer scanners) or, when using a high end scanner, the resolution...
Gordon,
Eloquently stated and right on the money, especially the aging eyes part. One of the things I like about my Rollei 6008 AF is the autofocus. When I am working fast and/or under pressure...
Sandy,
I want to see the results:). I'd like to take it even a step farther. We can see from Charlie Cramer's work how well a p 45 (39mp) back compares to 4x5 the next question for me is how...
Lenny, what was being compared is crucial and was what determined the images I used. The comparison was of the three 'glossy' baryta based digital papers on the market. The goal was to see how each...
RH Phillips is still very much in business, where did you get the idea they weren't? Dick is cutting way back on camera building to do more shooting and printing of hi own work but he hasn't stopped...
Interesting question and we'd have to see one of the images to make any really useful comment. Having said that, I know the area reasonably well and think that the vignetting might work well to...
Welcome Dan,
The thread John referred to is here http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?t=33731
My place is on Route 4A about 900 feet up the mountainside across from Lake...
It's highly unlikely you could do any negotiation on this one IF it is as described. The current version of this scanner, the ICG 369 sells for a bit under $100 with all the bells and whistles and...
In this instance your analysis of the market, IMO, is far from accurate. eBay is not a bellweather for used high end scanners for several reasons:
1) The majority of high end scanners available...
Helen, agreed. I'm almost at the point where I am ready to ignore conventions if they aren't supported by an ISO, EIA, etc. type standard.
Helen,
You raise an interesting point re "spi." I have always assumed that the manufacturers of consumer scanners referred to everything in "dpi" so as not to confuse the buyer. When we talk...
Correction please. The review I did included a resolution test using an AIG test target as always and the test showed a resolution of slightly under 2400. Early on I also posted some images here. ...

To add to Sandy's comments. You'll have a faster workflow with the Eversmart than you have with the Howtek. You may have a better shot at replacement parts. Make a comparison if you can of scans...
Scanned with a high end scanner you won't lose anything at that size BUT remember how much larger it will be when it is framed and matted. I usually print 4x5 at either 20x24" or 24x30" for shows...
Dave,
I see you are in the UK so you'll have to contact Screen Europe http://www.screeneurope.com. The software is not inexpensive, in the US it is around $800. Even if someone wanted to give...
I've had one since 1954. There were times in the late '60's and early '70's when it held my Linhof Kardan Color. It worked ok, could have been better but it did ok.
The Boston Globe is going to do a travel piece featuring our Fine Focus Workshops and concentrating on the May retreat as a destination for a "Weekend Getaway" for photographers. The piece is...
