There's a guy (vfmoto) on ebay that builds and sells a variety of shutter speed testers. I've never used one myself but it's something you might research.

According to the documentation that's not entirely accurate. You turn off the lights to put the film into the tubes and while you screw on the lid, containing developer. After that, everything else...
I'm in the same boat, researching and trying to decide. Currently I'm leaning toward the BTZS tubes. Or maybe pan or taco method......
