Yes, Viewpoint has been around for quite some time. I was pleased that they put my print in the Live Auction selection this year. To go to the general auction

Thanks Nate, I imagine that the water is pretty low these days - so maybe the Boquillas canyon is an option.
We will be in a rentacar, so no serious off roading on this trip - maybe make it back...
Thanks for the advice - Brian & David. I am aware of safety issues vis a vis water and supplies, but it never hurts to be reminded. I had considered going to
Boquillas while we were there, but...
Hey all,
I'm considering a trip to the Big Bend area in the not too distant future.
I'll be coming into there from Austin, and leaving out of El Paso.
Looks like Terlingua is the place to...
Spectrum Gallery (a 501c3) is hosting an exhibit of work by Alan Ross for the month of November.
I'm sure Alan needs little or no introduction here on this forum, so I'll just get to the details.

Brian (Ellis) - no problem - I actually was concerned that this thread would turn into some sort of digital vs analog flame fest.
Fortunately that wasn't the case.
Yes, I was referring (at one...
Wow - all good points. Thank you all very much.
Most i agree with, and many I will use to flesh out my comments.
Brian - I had hoped I had made clear that this is not a "dump on digital" talk....
So, I've been asked to participate in a talk about art and the digital age.
Because of my large format/analog background it is probably assumed that I'll rail against the
current practices and...
Thanks for the perspective Merg - even with historical inaccuracies it's a good read about a fascinating woman.
Thanks Merg,Steve and Bill. I appreciate the support.
Merg - it is indeed hallowed ground. There are still any number of us that interchange Friends of Photography with C.P.A in conversations. ...
Oh, I don't think they'll descriminate:rolleyes:
Sorry to hear that Vaughn, that's pretty frustrating.
They are generally a great group over there, but "stuff" does happen.
I hope you do give it another go.
Love to meet anyone from this group that can make the opening. One of the fun parts of these group shows is to meet & greet new people.
thanks guys.
Not my usual subject, but I was pleased with the outcome.
Greetings all -
I was pleased to find that one of my photographs was chosen for to the C.P.A. 2013 juried exhibit in
Carmel at the Sunset Center ( original location of the Friends of Photography ...
ROL,
Yup, it's a wonderful reason to visit. While you are here make sure you take an artistic photograph
just to prove Ted Orland wrong
On Sunday, October 14th, Spectrum Gallery ( 608 East Olive Ave., Fresno, Ca. ) will be presenting an
illustrated talk by Alan Ross. Alan will cover his time spent as Ansel's assistant as well as his...
Thanks for the reference Mark.
Looks to have been a very fulfilling career.
I guess it's going to get more and more common - but for the second time in the last year I got hit up for a
purchasing scam.
This time ( as opposed to the Lichtenstein routine ) is was from an...
I'll second Nelder Grove. It's actually right up the road from Calvin crest. you will be turning off of Sky Ranch Road to get to C.Crest. Staying on Sky Ranch road will bring to ta left turn into...
Eddy,
Can't promise it will change your life, but it is informative ( and entertaining ).

On Saturday night, April 7th, Brooke Gabrielson ( owner of Willem Photographic Gallery in Monterey ) came by and gave a lecture
at Spectrum. He went from photo to photo and gave the "back story"...
Large format tie in - not only did Avedon, Beaton, Penn, et al use large format, but for my general
orientation, we also have work by Adams and Loranc as part of this exhibit...

For the month of April, Spectrum Gallery will host a collection of iconic images on loan from the Willem Photographic Gallery in Monterey, Ca.. Many of these images represent a crossover of classic...
Thanks Turtle, I appreciate the compliment.
I suppose it would have also been a compliment of sorts if they had wanted to
steal my prints instead of just my money <G>.

Terry...
Kirk,
I'm going to be within driving distance of American Flats late next week - any more info you could give on access or directions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Terry
Pyramid lake is an interesting place - the largest Tufa formations I've ever seen. Not as other worldly as Mono Lake, but really really big. If you go, do get your
day pass from the local tribe -...
Thanks for your efforts Kirk.
I've been involved in organizing more than a couple of shows, it
can be amazingly time consuming...
Regards,
Terry
Sadly, BarryS is right - some cc companies allow 30 days or more to do chargebacks. If it is proven to be a stolen card ( which is quite likely)
then they probably have a very long time to do a...
You might want to check out Oatman and on over to Kingman for a nice drive. I haven't done that run since we used to
go to the Harley rally in Laughlin ( been a few years now ).
Just got a note from a graphic artist in Seattle that was saved
from this scam when he found our posts here.
I was somewhat reluctant to post this to begin with. I never
considered myself to be...
Well, this really does show the power of community!
Not to mention that it shows that low-lifes are a constant threat
in these times.
Glad this thread has helped people out!

Terry...
Merg,
Sorry I didn't respond earlier, been away for a bit.
Yes, the Fresno Art Museum has an exhibit of Dick Garrod's work up now. There are at least 30 ( or more ) prints of his up. They are...
Last night Richard Garrod gave a talk at the Fresno Art museum. A great deal of his material was on the need to move beyond the mechanics and physical equipment that we use.
Developing Vision is the...

I'm in for either coast or both !
I am on the left coast now, but I'm always looking
for excuses to go back east ( from whence I came ).
