Thanks! The Instructables website shows me the How. As to the Why (Kirk's question), it's because I like taking portraits that way, and I want to experiment with lenses that I wouldn't otherwise be...
It seems that it should be possible to mount a small digital camera to use as a back of 4x5. Has anyone ever done this? I don't want to damage the digital camera in the process!
I was wondering whether there were any good events scheduled for the first week of July, in the North East (Connecticut/NY/RI/NH).
I checked out iStockphoto. Most (by a good margin) of the photos I saw there are not what visitors to this site would deem interesting. What is the target audience of microstock sites?
I guess since digital photos last for ever, this process could go on with photos accumulating in ever greater numbers until photos are cheaper than air.
What exactly is microstock?
When you quote x$/image/year, that takes into account both the percentage of photos that are sold as well as the price per sale?
Is there any harm in uploading a few hundred pics to a stock site?
Thank you for your sobering replies! I knew things were bad, but did not realize how bad.
Here are the goals that I really want to accomplish, and was wondering if you could help me identify any...
I was wondering whether any one has general, big picture advice about stock photography as a way to supplement income.
Curious why B&H does not import it as they used to import all sorts of film.
On re-reading your question, another easy solution is to have a cheap computer for scanning and a fancy Win 7 64bit machine for editing. Unless Vuescan makes drivers for drum scanners.
I agree with whoever said that you need lots of RAM, and 32bit Windows has a RAM limit, if I remember correctly.
My copy of Win 7 came with both 64 bit and 32 bit CDs, so you can install 32-bit...
I did not find any Fuji color negative film (4x5) listed at B&H. Is it just temporary, or has this been discontinued?
With respect to the Telek "closeup" filter, the above quoted website has this to say:
"Among the other Series oddities you sometimes see are Kodak’s “Telek” attachments: These were lenses with...
I think so.
I used to know what these things are. One of them has a greenish piece of glass attached.
Related (I think), I also have what look like closeup filters, except that they don't appear to have...
Does anyone know if there is a difference between LEE and Calumet 4x6 graduated ND filters (I think both come with soft or hard edge). Thank you.
I tried a Lens Pen. It worked the first couple of times, but now it no longer removes smudges.
Without hearing the criticism of others you would never learn to be critical of your work, which is what you need to grow as a certain type of artist.
On the other hand, that's not enough. You...
There is no digital output at the present that can mimick a chrome. It's a physical object that just can't be made with any digital processes at the present. I can always tell a 4x5chrome from...
I picked up a Verito and 2 Dagors for about $185 (along with some other stuff I can't identify). One of the Dagors cost $70 (thank you Flutot!) to fix. The second Dagor still needs fixin. Do you...
Are you serious about this? I've seen praise for ROR, but no one has recommended Alka seltzer before.
Thanks domaz. I took a look at the luminous-landscape thread posted above. The poor fellow there managed to have his DNGs mangled somehow by ACR. I wasn't able to replicate what he did, and no one...
You promised to move on, instead you came back and accused an honest business person of being a scam artist. You must be having a long day; let's cool down, eh?
So much for moving on D--now you are beginning to look like you're arguing. But what are you arguing exactly? You've already said that you scan RAW, you just don't like the fact that Hamrick gives...
This is not aimed at D, who is moving on--
In summary:
(1) If you are scanning to Vuescan RAW, then the choice between TIFF and DNG comes down to the program you wish to use to view or process...
D-I am not trying to force you to scan in RAW. For me it works great. I got there thanks to the advice of the other participants in this forum (see the posts above) and Sascha Steinhoff's book and...
That is (i) humorous and (ii) what Adobe wants you to believe.
DNG actually added to the Tower of Babel because it's yet another format that has no advantages over the RAW that comes off a DSLR...
IR Data has NOT been rendered; it's in a separate channel ready to be combined with RGB data. 64 bit RGBI file! I'm no expert but I did read the Vuescan Bible and had conversations with both the...
At a minimum, it lets me manage my files in a DAM program like Lightroom, something you can't do effectively with a linear RAW TIFF.
Also, my understanding is that DNG was never meant to be...
Can that be installed in a Speed Graphic?
Flutot fixed this lens, and now it works beautifully!
Are you referring to the focal plane shutter? I did not know it had a slit button.
I found that although Lightroom supports both TIFF and DNG, there is no practical way to use the TIFFs because Lightroom does allow setting the gamma. Raw TIFFs imported into Lightroom look awful,...
Might I ask how you test the shutter speed?
I've read that some people photograph the IT-8 target with the negative film of their choosing, and that exposure effectively becomes a kind of profile of the negative.
Hi all,
Is the Giottos Rocket Air Blaster good for cleaning lenses/film/filters? Is there a better solution that's safe to use?
Does anyone use Giottos Rocket Air Blaster to clean film or lenses?
