Thread: Large Format Landscapes

    Re: Large Format Landscapes

    Last Monday,

My local mountains, the "Bells" with my Chamonix 45N-2, 90mm 6.8 Grandagon, Rollei IR400, R72 filter. I was running a test roll through my new DaYi 6x12 back to check for light leaks, etc. I love it so much, I bought a second one...

Headed back up tomorrow AM, we got snow so I want to continue my "Log" series before the spring melt or an avalanche moves it. Attachment 80999

    Pretty nice.
SO I guess that it is a strong endorsement for the Dayi back...

    cheers,

    Pfiltz,

Your "Somewhere in Seattle" photo actually was made on the other side of Puget Sound out on the north Olympic Peninsula. That's the pier at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center at Fort Worden State Park here in PT. The land in the background is Whidbey Island, and the water is Admiralty Inlet, which is the official beginning of Puget Sound. You obviously made this photo in the summer--the white roof is from bird poop which doesn't get washed off by the rain during our usual summer drought. The clouds on the horizon that day would have hidden the panorama of the Cascade Mountains from Mt. Baker on the left to Mt. Ralnier on the far right. I hope you got up on Artillery Hill in the park to photograph the massive old coast defense artillery positions there in the state park. Built immediately after the Spanish-American War, those positions, along with three other nearby Army forts, guarded the entrance to Puget Sound--until, of course, airplanes made them obsolete. Hope you enjoyed your stay in Port Townsend!

For the money it is pretty good. I did have to do a couple of things like de-burr the pressure plate, black out the 6x9 frame counting hole and put a red gel in the 6x12 one. Other than that, it's been perfect and I love the format.

Cristian, very nice! Interesting lighting. Was there any post processing of the image, or straight out of the camera?

Straight out of the camera is a negative...if this is a positive, there is already a post processing...
