Large Format Landscapes

Hmm I was thinking that 6x12 or 6x17 would count as LF since it spans at least one direction "largely" lol.

It's a good compromise right?

I am going to buy a 617 format camera later, i would like to do some panos, wish if i have 5x7 or 8x10 then i can use a roll back of 6x17, i don't want to buy 4x10 LF then get 6x17 bcuz this will cost me more than just a body of 6x17 format.

I don't care what type of Back was on it. It was shot with a Chamonix 45N1 using a Schneider Symmar 135/5.6 and for me, that's Large Format.

Regards and thanks for the good comment. 100VS I rate normally. I have found different lenses will give me slightly different exposure and will adjust accordingly. The 90 Nikkor F8, I must add 1/3 additional exposure to obtain correct results. With my other lenses, no change.

If I shoot a 4x5 negative with my Chamonix Saber (= no movement) is it considered LF? but if I shoot with my ShenHao XPO45 using a 6x12 or 6x9 back is it more or less LF or not at all ?
Soon we might end-up like APUG where one is not sure if using a Jobo and a motor base is analog enough
I still need to confess that I was very dissapointed when the small format thread became the repository for testing shots with newly acquired digital cameras and phones

I really like APUG for many many reasons, but I have to admit, they are certainly persnickety and often a pain with regards to the "acceptable" rules, sometimes I get really frustrated and often confused about what's ok and what's not, glad you guys are more accepting, now I can post some IR shots I took with my 6x7 cambo back, I was under the impression those were NOT ok...

"For the purposes of this forum, we define "large format" as being essentially 4x5, or larger, sheet film. We do, however, allow what would otherwise be considered "medium format" sizes, IF exposed in a view camera (e.g. with a roll-film adapter), technical, or old-style press camera (e.g. the various Graphic cameras)."

That is indeed very clear and settles the issue for good with a modicum of acrimony.

It is about the camera body (view cameras with movements) -- as per the founder of this forum...with Speed Graphics, P&S cameras using 4x5 or larger, and such grandfathered in.

Roll film adapters of LF cameras also allowed and dedicated, no-movement 6x17's not considered LF.

So it goes. Below is a 6x7 roll film image -- Calumet rollback on a Gowland PocketView 4x5. Photo: Early morning (before the flies got too bad), Gums, NSW, Oz., circa 1995, Portra 160 VC if I remember right. Film commercially developed, printed by me (RA4).
