Yes Oren I was talking about all the little press-type 90s. I would use my 90/8 Nikkor if I didn't have an Angulon but I'm thinking a big segment of the market for this camera is the medium format shooter who has no lenses for 4x5. Or maybe not? Several digital-only folks have been interested though when I told them about it as well!

Speaking of Optars, here's a nice one for cheap on eBay:

{facepalms} You guys had a previous successful kickstarter with a pinhole cap for digital cameras! You need to make that an option for the Travelwide as soon as possible. People want something they can use out of the box--did you see how fast those TW/angulon packages went? The pinhole also keeps the overall cost low.

Unfortunately, with all of the Earlybird offers gone (damned time zone differences), the main option now is to buy a camera at the same price it will be if/when the Kickstart is successful.

There just doesn't seem to be an incentive to pledge with this in mind. Seems just as easy to wait for a production model to come out, albeit with the possibility of a waiting period whilst pledged orders are fulfilled.

    Am I missing something?

The incentive is--there won't be any cameras if the pledges fall short. Since you won't get charged unless the KS is successful, there's no upside (and considerable downside) to waiting. $99 is a very good deal for the camera.

Yes. Odds are there won't be a production model unless everybody pitches in now. There have been no backers at any of the higher, more philanthropic reward levels yet. And at $99 per, $75K is still far away. So if you want to see it made, please step up.

The trouble is that if everybody waits for production to buy, there will probably be no production because the $75k will not be raised. In that case, none of us will get a camera and refunds will be issued.

    That's how I understand it.

Your credit card doesn't get charged at all unless and until the target is met. So no need for refunds if the campaign falls short.

    I'm a timezone disadvantaged LF-er, and I've pledged my $99... I'm sure I have a 90mm lens here somewhere.

Ah, right, thanks for pointing that out. It all makes perfect sense.

I just pitched the camera at my photo lab and showed the video to a 4x5 shooter who was there picking up her work. Her eyes bugged out and she said: "Crazy!", so perhaps I got you another backer, LOL. The lab guy was also interested and will spread the word to other people.

I think you guys need to come up with a list of alternate 90mm lenses that will work with the camera, to help people who can't get ahold of an Angulon.

Put my order in this morning. Bummed out about missing the early-earylbird special but I'll take a slight discount. $40 for international shipping? Ouch.
