Thank you Martin,
The first time I visit this place was without wellies… Not a good experience, also an e-bike is quite dangerous with mud.

Yes...I've thought about the sherpa which I also tend to leave at home when most needed (why do I do this?) - and also personal airbags, which would quickly inflate when I fall - actually...I think someone should get to work on this!
But it can certainly be frustrating to be at a place where, if only one had a magical balloon to carry us to that "perfect" place from which to photograph...perhaps in this case a bit lower than the falls but hovering a bit off the ground. At times like this I just try to remain open to other approaches which might actually be possible...and sometimes in doing this I actually come away with something both unexpected and wonderful!

Thank you TC, no they are still being used. It’s for the water stand. This is the first time in about 15 years that the water was so low.
The idea was to take a vertical image, but there where a lot of ‘older’ people on bikes who where asking questions … And this was my last film in my bag.
Out with the Nag yesterday with a specific shot to take (an ancient barn) but couldn't get the shot (beside a golf course and all the cars parked around it). So, I headed home via a roundabout route and stopped by this no-name pond.
I've been shooting EDU Ultra 100 for several years at half speed with great results, so I decided to shoot at box speed.

this is a 14-15 minute exposure on polymax FB paper with a 4x5box camera ( about 4pm ).. it's a river that's dammed up several times for mill ponds, this is after 1 dam and at the foot of a millpond. it was developed in Sumatra coffee with some developer I call black dust, it's somewhere between ansco130 and d72... oxidized ( in a container for 2-3 years ) perfect for paper negatives

I do not recognize your experience if it comes to comments on your posts and on the photo's you present here (but maybe you don't mean this necessarily about your own posts but about the general culture of photo or any imagery forums). I have liked about all off your work, although I only responded when your posts were outstanding. The image you present now may not illicit immediate applause indeed, but the meaning or value of artistic work cannot always be judged or even digested in a second. Maybe it's a good step for you and for your creations to leave this forum to get the grips on what you want to make, instead of being under the influence what an imagined public would applause for. For me, your work has been very inspiring, that's for sure.

Can you please tell us what the exposure time was? The long-exposure effect for the streaming water looks (to me) just right: not completely washed out in some fog, streaks are still visible.

The last shot I'll take with my dubious quality yellow filter. The same weird out-of-focus areas can be found in the shot once again (but not in any of the shots I've made where the filter wasn't used), although not enough to ruin the picture thankfully. Into the bin the filter will go...

Kerosene, the two sepia images are exceptional. Well done! They remind of seeing a comment a couple of years ago saying that landscape photography is easy. Ha! And those clouds just happened to be perfectly integral and harmonious with your composition the moment you arrived, and stayed there motionless while yo set up and composed. Right.
Paul Strand once invited Walter Rosenblum to accompany him on a commercial shoot of a city skyline. Longer story short, Walter gave up after two or three days (I forget which) of Strand setting up but not making a single image all day, because the clouds weren't right.
Ilford has a post recently about a photographer who tracks wild animals in Africa. He speaks of waiting hours in his car for a pair of young lions to awake from their nap.

Thanks, Phil - I think credit for your compliment goes to Michael - I was commenting on his landscapes. Mine is the one (with clouds) of a short pier in SC (which was hard fought, in July, in mid-day heat w/ IR film and South Carolina-grade mosquitoes).

Thompson Street Jetty, Drummoyne NSW: Toyo Field 810M with single-coated Fujinon W 180mm f5.6 and single-coated Fujinon W 210mm f5.6 lenses. Exposures are 1/15s f32 for both using Shanghai GP3 100 developed in HC-110 1+39 21˚C for 7.5 minutes using continuous agitation. The 180mm lens is the Copal shuttered version which has slightly larger (~10mm) image circle than the Seiko shuttered version, which only just covers 8x10. The 180mm was used without movement (the camera was adjusted from the horizontal in lieu of raising the front standard) while the 210mm lens has about 30mm of movement of which about 15mm of rise was applied to the front.
This was a test of the Leofoto G4 geared head I just acquired, it's atop a Leofoto LS-364C tripod. The Leofoto design and manufacturing is superb, arguably the best from China and probably the most expensive, but still significantly cheaper than Gitzo et al. The G4 head is a beautiful piece of engineering and IMHO is adequate to the task of holding the 7kg Toyo 810M steady with lenses up to maybe 300mm, but would not be sufficient for longer lenses. For any smaller and lighter camera the head would be perfectly fine. The geared actions are smooth.

About as challenging a photograph as one could envision with a modest speed film. Maintaining the shadow detail and the highlight clouds but with a fast enough shutter to let the viewer know it is a wave crashing into the rocks. Would bet you probably had to shoot that 19" Artar just about wide open. Very nice Merg.

Hi Michael, I've enjoyed the works you have recently shared here. A real treat! Spending more time in the darkroom lately?
This Weston Beach photo is from one of many visits there with Brett. That barrel Artar and Plus-X worked well with the Packard shutter, my only shutter for 8x10.

Thank you so much Francis ! The first time I attempted it , I set the camera up with the scene looking like it did in the image and when I went to look at the ground glass , could not find the channel with my loupe....looked up and yes the tide had come in in about 5 minutes flat !
It was very key to the image so I packed up and went to look for something else !

Bernard used a 14" Red Dot Apo Artar on 4x5 Tri-X. I usually bracket this kind of subject , the shutter speed readings (old Ilex) are unreliable: no notes were taken, 2 negs and this was the better one.

I don't think of my process as convoluted, but it certainly adds a couple steps to the process...
I publish images BIG on Flickr, and then grab the URL of the specific size version I want to use here, and paste the URL into the "from URL" tab of the image post button. It isn't a particularly tedious additional step, and the result is (IMO) worth it. Mind you, I regard Flickr as the single most important window into my work, so I'm going to post to Flickr first and foremost. Posting (via URL linking) elsewhere isn't as important to me, but I know people like to see a larger image here than the default the forum allows, so that's what I do.
I totally agree

Made recently with a Horseman45FA and 150mm Schneider lens.
On Rollei IR 400 with an R72 filter
On a 2 week trip to the Western Isles and knew on day one I would have to come back to the location every day until I knew I had got the shot!
Stunning capture John. That Rollei IR400 is a lovely film, shame it’s so flimsy to handle.

Hi, Paul!
Thank you very much!
I went on an excursion to this spot a couple of weeks before . On that occasion I only took an Olympus OM-1 camera, but when I saw this place I wanted to return with the large format camera.

I like both. But for the first one I would have removed the branch at the lower right; IMO interferes with the reflections; the branches in the lower left corner not so much.
Congratulations.
With our early onset of spring this year, I've been resuming my treks in the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY. Here are a couple of views of Otisco Lake, the easternmost and one of the smallest of these beautiful bodies of water.
Both on the aged Deardorff with my newly-acquired Nikon Nikkor-M 450mm, which, pretty much immediately, has become my absolute favorite lens. Both on Ilford FP4.
