It's also possible to adjust alignment of the negative plane by using the optional masking stage - which is a useful tool in any case - and inserting shims underneath.

Mine seems to have this feature and it is likely to be needed.
It is likely to be out of alignment since it has been transported lying down supported by the head and base board - at least once.
That would seem to be tricky and time consuming task.... I could easily see you could make things worse!
BTW.... does anybody have a manual?
Thanks for all your input!!
Just be careful with those adjustment screws, there's springs involved on the other side, I believe, careful not to go too far. The manual that came with mine, is not very significant, I might be able to scan and present as PDF attachment for you to print out, I'll work on it. Are you sure you don't indeed have the XLG?
Wow, thanks Chuck!!
It's a 4550XL, at least that what it says on the head....
The pivot point "washer" is black not silver like yours, and the adjustment screws are there it seems....
I plugged in the power supply and enlarger. The fan comes on but not the lamp. The lamp seems good.
Power supply plugged in directly to wall, timer not hooked up.... do I need power both on main and timer power cords?
Forgetting some switch??
The power supply has two AC power cords, one marked Timer on a short cord. The enlarger has a cord with a 4 pin male connector that plugs into the Power supply.
The question is if I have to plug in both power cords to AC power, just want to make sure I don't bust anything. With both cords being standard AC plugs they must be intended to both be plugged in.
The power supply is intended to be looped with your timer.
