I now hang my hat in Olathe, KS and have been lurking for awhile here and finaly joined a few weeks ago.
I began my photography experience in 1982 and jumped from 35mm to MF in 1986. Once I saw the huge image difference between 35mm and MF, I wanted more. Purchased my first LF in 1987 (4x5 Toyo monorail) and then took off for a two week vacation from Southern California to Northwest Missouri and took photos everywhere in-between with the Toyo.
When I arrived to my parent's house in St.Joseph, MO, I was excited to get the film developed. Instead of going to Kansas City (an hour drive) to use my professional lab, I chose to go to a local camera store that did film processing. Big mistake - they ruined everyone of them. You could see a small part of the image along the side of the film and the store owner said "look like these were not taken around here." I was in shock.
After my visit with my parents, headed back to Calif and then sold all the LF equipment and stuck with the MF.
Over the years I evolved with the digital revolution but always felt something was missing with the digital images vs the film. I decided to get back into MF and thru the research, landed on this site. Began reading and researching the LF info and found myself wanting to give it another try.
Purchased a Graflex Graphic 4x5 View camera off eBay a couple of weeks ago and have been playing with the adjustments and focus on items around the house. Purchased some Kodak C41 film and am hoping to make some test shots this weekend.
Here are a few photos of the camera.
