Wonderful composition Jonathan, one of your best IMO!
I like the TMY as it stands, but the Polaroid almost looks like a drawing. Pretty neat.
Thanks for the feedback. Usually I don't shoot multiple emulsions of the same image, and had I only shot one or the other I would have been satisfied with the result and not known the difference. As it stands I can't really decide between the two, but it's good to know other people's preferences.

I was inspired to try this style of lighting and composition after looking at Josef Sudek's still lifes and Frantisek Drtikol's nudes. I missed the mark a bit because my lighting ratios were off; I wanted something more moody and atmospheric. Maybe a Petzval would have helped? I think the Polaroid gets the mood better but lacks the deeper shadows of the TMY. Not a problem because there's always another subject to practice on. What I really want is to take some more photos of my significant other, but she is not in the mood right now, and I respect that. In the meantime, flowers it is!

Going for a bit of a 'machine age' feel with this one.

Jonathan, I love what you're doing with the Polaroid 53! Excellent compositions and a beautiful look too. Keep at it and I hope you find some more soon.
Jonathan, your machine age bowl is awesome.
I was at an antique motorcycle meet today, and a vendor I was friends with was selling some old tools and junk. A grubby old tap and die set in a wooden case looked pretty good in the fog shrouded sun.

MMMM.....tap and die....what causes the diffuse focusing effect? Lens or fog?
