Would anyone be able to tell me the approximate weight of a 480mm f11 Schneider Apo-Artar?
Schneider quotes a range from 775 to 895 g depending on the shutter. Data here:

I used to have one that I bought as a barrel lens and had Steve Grimes mount it in an Ilex #5. I was never happoy with the performance of the lens a later replaced it with a Nikon 450 M which I still use. The 480, in that configuration, was both larger and heavier than the 450 M.
The Nikon specification for the 450M in Copal 3 is 640g.
Ted, what did you find lacking with the performance of the lens.
Mine is frontmounted in a large Alphax (#4 I think). total weight in a Linhof board (!) 1160g......

Ron, mine was just not as sharp as I expected it to be ... was likely my particular lens.
