    schneider vintage lens shutter codes

    There is some nice info on Schneider's vintage lenses on their web site. ex:
    <http://www.schneideroptics.com/info/vintage_lens_data/large_format_lenses/tele-arton/data/5.5-240mm.htm>
    However I am stumped when it comes to decoding the shutter designation, from the above link it is "II 5/2+3 or *I+1".
    I could not find a reference to the coding. My guess would be that the Roman numerals define a Compur or Compound (which?) shutter size, with the decimals being front and back spacers. Also the * doesn't seem to have any reference either.
    Does anyone know how it works?

    I have a ca. 1959 270mm f:5.5 Tele-Arton in a Compur 2 shutter, if that's any help to you.

    For Compound shutters: http://www.largeformatphotography.in...663#post223663

    http://photo.net/large-format-photography-forum/00ZPwQ which links to http://www.suaudeau.eu/memo/pratique..._centraux.html

    II 5/2+3 decodes to Compur #2 (this defines the hole sizes and threading) and tube lengths 5 with 2 (front, I think) and 3 (rear, I think). Standard tube lengths for the Compur #2 were 5/I and 5/II. The codes aren't Schneider's, they are Deckel's.

    Thanks guys. I had seen Ole's posts but the tube length specifications aren't clear from those. My guess was about right then.
