Questions about "Tintype"

Okay.

1. Do I need a special camera to do tintype?
2. If not, how can I get started taking pictures on my Sinar F2?
3. I read somewhere that, at least in the old days, the pictures had to be processed immediately following exposure. Is this still the case?
4. How different is the process for developing tintypes from developing a 35mm/4x5 negative?

Ok. I started reading and it annoyed me. It seems the Q&A section of this article was written simply by turning statements into questions by replacing the last period in the sentence with a question mark.

1. you do not need a special camera to shoot wet pate collodion images. (tintypes, ambrotypes or wet plate negatives)
2. You can use your Sinar. All you need is a wet plate holder or a converted film holder.
3. Yes, you have to coat, sensitize, expose, develop and fix your images immediately. It sounds challenging but its really not that hard once you get the hang of it.
4. working with wet collodion is very different than just developing film

Anybody try the Rockland Colloid Tintype Parlor Kit from freestyle? it sounds like the sheets may be thin enough to put into a 4x5 holder.
