Is there an inexpensive scanner that will let me scan a 12x16 print?

I have some 12x16 prints which I would like to scan. They have 1/2 inch or so borders. Will they fit on the Epson 3200 or similar, or will I have to take them to a service bureau? many thanks!

The HP 4670 is approximatley $200 and is designed to scan large artwork in multiple scans. It comes with the software to assemble the mosaiced images. I recently scanned some 12x16 watercolor paintings in four separate scans each. The results are great. Goerge

Any of the "affordable" scanners will require scanning multiple sections, and then piecing the scans together. Epson makes a couple of graphics arts scanners that read 12.2" x 17.2", but they are close to $3K in price.

A service bureau may be the best option. Depending on what you plan to do with the scans, however, don't overlook the potential of simply shooting the prints with a digital camera and appropriate copy lighting.

Actually there is a very inexpensive scanner called the Mustek that will scan up to 12X17" size. I have seen them often on ebay and there is at least one there now, at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2790956839&category=44978

Priced at less than $170 might fit your needs.
