    Chromegatrol

I have one chromegatrol left that's working. Please guide me on how to use it the proper way.

My first 2 gave in within a few weeks. They're 20 years of age, and hasnt seen light for around 10 years. The working one was recently refurbished.

When the first one died, I was doing 5 prints non-stop. Could it be the culprit was the constant flicking of the switches, turning on-off the bulb in succession?

Would appreciate it if you lads could guide me on the proper way of using my last chromegatrol..

    Regards,
    Dan.

Also the working one is dependent on a transformer, since it's 120v. Voltage in Malaysia is 240v.

You need the Chromegatrol numbered 412-045. That one is for input voltages 190v to 260v. How are you using the 120v one?

Have you metered the output voltage or are you simply trusting the transformer's specs?

    I havent metered the output.

My 2 previous ones which broke down are both 412-045 (190-260v)

Have you had someone look at them to see what is wrong?

How to properly use my Chromegatrol so it doesnt give in like the others?

Maybe only print in 5 minute intervals to let the bugger rest? Last one failed during 5 successive prints.

    Re: Chromegatrol

    Hello Dan,
I work with an Omega DII-Head in combination with a Cromegatrol for many years. I donīt make 5 minute intervalls when printing and had no problems until now. I think, something must be wrong.

The first thought was, that there could be a lot of dust inside your chromegatrol so there could be leak currents caused by high humidity.
If there is much dust inside, maybe you or an electrician could clean ist. Have you checked the fuse of the chromegatrol? Is it blown?

The two chromegatrols that are damaged, ist there something to see what ist damaged (marks of burns etc)

Then there could be a problem with the enlarger itself. Is there the right bulb inside (24V/250W)? A larger bulb could cause higher currents and the chromegatrol could be damaged.

The next problem could be the voltage in malaysia. What frequency do you have? Here we have 230V 50Hz. You should check the inputvoltage of the stepdown transformer and the output voltage, too.

    I hope, this is helpful...

    Best Regards
    Frank
