A few days ago someone on this board mentioned that A. Adams used to copy prints with all the dodging and burning and then make prints from this copy negative. I would like to do this and I would appreciate any help as to how to go about doing this. eg. What film, lighting, lens? How much of a drop in quality to expect etc. Many thanks to all the people who so generously contribute their time and expertise on this forum!
Do it digitally from the original neg, less middle men so to speak. Dan Burkholder's Making Digital Negs is really easy to understand. If I can figure it out, anyone can. Good luck
If you decide you would like to actually make a photograph of the print, Kodak has Professional Copy Film. This is a slow film designed to make good renditions of continuous tone originals. The ASA is 25 Daylight and 12 Tungsten. I'm not entirely sure if this stuff is still available, but you might be able to find some around a lab somewhere. Hope that is of some help. Good luck.
