The hood and cowl is some old black material I once had made up to skirt the base of my model railway, and the background is one of my old coloured popup BGs from when I was a proper photographer.

    Nik was lit just by the light coming through the front room bay window and using Adox 25 gave me an exposure of 4 seconds at f11 with a Schneider Symmar-S 240mm f5.6 lens on my Horseman LX, I had to allow an extra stop for the bellows factor.

    The sheets of film were processed semi-stand in my Paterson Orbital Processor (without the base) in Caffenol CL developer.

    I'm quite pleased with this image, and there has been no sharpening done (want to give Nik a fighting chance) although I have carried out some other PP such as a bit of softening and vignetting around the edges and toned in Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.

    This was my first real attempt at portraiture using the monorail and I doubt it will be my last.

    Nice image ed. Has your wife been stopped for 4 seconds ? She is a very good model.

    Tks,

    Jardel.

    Yes she managed to stay very still for the exposure time, this was helped as she was in a comfortable position and not having to smile also made it easier.

    Thanks for the comments folks.

    Ever had one of those sittings that really tests everything you've got?!
    I recently had the opportunity recently to photograph Arj Barker, an internationally renowned comedian made famous by appearances in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the hit New Zealand comedy 'The Flight of the Conchords'.
    Everything was working against me...the 2.5hr drive to the location, terrible light, chemistry, a collapsing camera and tripod with the heavy 18" Cooke Knuckler on it. Thankfully Arj is a super guy and he's used to making people laugh
    This one's called 'Arj Barker - My Life in Television'
    11"x14" Wet Plate Collodion Ambrotype on black glass

    Arista.edu 400 120 film in a Graflex back, 90mm F8 Super Angulon. This was much harder to focus than I was anticipating, I was hoping this would be a cool portrait setup. Might try a faster lens or just stick to my Mamiya C330 for 120. I was thinking the roll film back would be cool for shooting color LF though. Her eyes are a little soft up close. Still not a bad picture I don't think.

    A portrait of a restorer at work, at the church of Madonna del Sasso at Orselina, Ticino;

    Wide open at f/4.5 with a 75mm lense, on Delta 100.

    Whoops. Somehow managed to screw this up. Round 2:
