I had to send a umbrella flash bracket back to B&H with two problems, one because it looked like it had been used for years with plenty of scratches and finish removed. What irked me was the crap I got from the smuck I talked to about the defect, and then the return, and I had just gotten it. If their going to keep this stuff up I'll probably go elsewhere. Now i feel like I'm going to have to ask for unopend boxes if ordering new.

I bought a 150mm Componon-S enlarger lens new from Adorama and inside the box was a 135mm Componon-S. I've never had a problem from B&H though.

"To the credit of B&H they will allow you to return merchandise if you get something and simply don't want it after a very brief and delicate trial with it."

All of the reputable mail order sellers will allow you to return items for any reason within their return period, so B&H isn't doing anything special in following that policy. Actually B&H's return period was very short (only 7 days) the last time I looked. Some other dealers allow 15 days. Of course in fairness, some other dealers (though not all by any means) also impose a 5% or 10% restocking fee and B&H doesn't do that.
