Flexible Cable Releases

I currently use the inexpensive vinyl cable release. Are the cloth or stainless more flexible? Any brand recommendations?

Gepe 20" black vinyl from b&h. B&H # GE2111 I believe but the one I've ordered have been special order for that price. I've never had an issue other than loosing them. Very flexible. Don't buy the colored versions as they are much stiffer for some reason.

Ebony (the camera maker) makes good ones. The ones I have are made of fabric, are very flexible, and have a heavier head than the usual ones I have had in the past which I like better. Midwest sells them: http://mpex.com/film-cameras/large-f...nufacturer=381

These are the TOP of the heap as far as cable releases go. GEPE is about the equal to the previous and older Prontor cable releases are equal to both of the aforementioned releases

Oh Yea. I own a Ebony release and it's very nice. That said, if you ever plan to use older shutters like big Studio shutters, and Ilex/Compound #5's you'll need the extra throw of the three manufacturers mentioned above.

If your mostly using with modern lenses the Ebony cable release is a terrific choice.

I find the cloth ones to be, in general, more flexible. My favorite is the Nikon one. It's short, very flexible and has a disk lock that is very compact. I don't use the lock really but I like the low profile design. It's the AR-3, b&h is currently out of stock, partially since I just ordered a few of 'em.

I tried the Gepe vinyl releases first and found them very stiff so I sent them back. They were the colored version though.

I like short releases so I can leave one attached to each lens.

I use 20" Gepe cloth releases with disc locks (I carry 2, because I've been known to lose them). They are very flexible and I like the longer length which gives me more choices as to where to stand, and I'd like to think a bit more isolation of my jitteryness from the camera. I have flexible connectors installed on all my lenses.
