Surely no one here sold their car or house to raise the stake...
If it comes off successfully... Great!
If it falls by the wayside... Never mind!
Personally, I don't care if there are months between updates. I trust the guys even though I don't know them and I'm unlikely ever to meet them. Leave them to work on the important things like developing their creation to a merchantable level of quality. Let's be patient. We are not their clients, so we don't need schmoozing. We are not their line managers, so we don't NEED reports. We are photographers and would like to use these cameras, so let them get on with making them fit to use.

I just have to respond, sorry if it annoys anyone here.
Randy, different people have different 'preferences' regarding projects such as are presented on Kickstarter. These preferences are not good or bad, they are just personal preferences. Some of us like to be 'in the loop' as it were. You judge that as Wrong! As in; my 'personal preference' is Right, and yours is wrong! You use the word "demanding" in reference to quite mild post's by LF members asking only reasonable questions. And then ask us to "Please stop posting" (well, at least you said 'please'). This journey has been very enlightening, a window on the process of design, and the perils of trying to realize that design. I find the process fascinating and the short video posted in update #27 was very revealing of the intricacies of molding plastic. Even Ben's short note here about the boiling test failure is appreciated. That is all that those of us who like to be 'in the loop' are asking for. Yet, you deem that too much and request that we be silent.
With all due respect, no, I will not stop posting nor would I request you to stop either.
John , still sitting in freakishly mild winter weather for Puget Sound. (I sure hope we don't have another hot summer like last year.)
Please don't stop posting! It's always encouraging to come on LFF and see what you guys are saying about the project. Even when some of the feedback is critical, it's helpful. Sometimes we need to be nudged!
Honestly, the Travelwide is a direct result of this forum. I wouldn't have even picked up a 4x5 camera unless this amazing resource existed.
The latest news is that Xcentric has selected a Nylon 12, and is figuring out when they can run the samples. The PO has been sent, so we should see them run possibly next week or the week after. We're crossing our fingers that we can get a good fit with the 12… The 6 absorbs up to 9% of its weight in water, but the 12 is under 1.5%. So it really shouldn't swell as much. If we can get the size right by varying the cooling time, we should be good to go!
Got a good update earlier today. They should be getting their samples from the shop in a week or two, then they can run their moisture conditioning tests. If everything looks good, they'll order all 1500. Getting close!

Thanks for the update on Kickstarter. Encouraging.
Thanks for the update Ben and Justin, waiting for the camera when its ready. No rush here.
Hey Ben and Justin, I really appreciate the update and it does sound promising. Good luck with this next prototype run and testing. And as always, no rush on my part. I would rather wait till you have everything worked out.
Roger
How did everything go on the 9th? Those samples turn out?
