I have the possibility to buy this shutter, and I would like to use it in my Shen Hao 5x7. That camera can take regular Sinar boards and regular Technica/Linhof lens boards. Would the Sinar/Copal shutter fit in the Shen Hao ?
Thanks,
Stefan.

See the Shen Hao XPO, discussed here.
Stefan,
Just make it fit, that is what I did on my 8x10 B&J.
Here is my original design.
First a 4x5 sinar bellow, than the Sinar shutter, than the front standard of a 4x5 sinar.
The Sinar shutter is somewhat larger than a Sinar board.
It did not work like I wanted, the aperture scale and mechanism hit my front frame when I tilt.
Later on I removed the aperture scale and mechanism, and put the shutter upside down.
Also removed the bellows, could not focus my 210mm.
Now I have more tilt

Mike
Ok, thanks a lot ! It seems work directly or to be adaptable without too many difficulties.
Thanks for helping me out.

Stefan.
If you want more info just ask.
I also found some Sinar repair and partnumber document of Sinar shutters.

I suggest rear mounting the SC shutter, where it is normally placed for a number of reasons given on http://www.jbaphoto.com.au/johnaustinblog.html
The work on a Tackyhara is very easy and should be on a Shen Hao if a spare Sinar bellows small end frame is available or a similar thing is made

Hmmm - two pix loaded but not here, ah well
Stefan,
When you buy the shutter.
Make sure the shutter release cable is fully functioning, without any hesitation, an not any bends are in the cable.
A new shutter cable is costing a fortune. I have seen prices above 200 euro.
Also the flash cable should also be there, it is a special Sinar flash cable.

Hello Mike,
Ok, thanks for the tip. I'll make sure to check it out before buying (hopefully next Saturday).
Regards,
Stefan.
One other thing to keep in mind: some times the shutter will not seem to open and close properly. If that happens, do not squeeze the cable harder
The front of the shutter accepts a Sinar board (or imitation). That board can have a Sinar-DB-mounted lens on it, or it can just have a barrel-mounted lens on it. The board can also be an adapter board, and the lens can actually sit on a second board.
In any event, if the lens board is not a Sinar-DB board, and the aperture on the shutter is not set to wide-open, then the shutter won't open and close properly. The solution is to open the aperture on the Sinar Shutter to wide open.
