Cheap semi wide with 8x10 coverage

I finally started on my new film holders for a 5x12 camera I will be building around them. As most of my lenses only cover 5x7 with slight movements and 1 that covers 8x10 with good movements (12") I starting to look around for a semi-wide lense that will cover. I have alittle while till I will need it but looking for suggestions. Price will be an issue as my wife all ready thinks I spend too much on my hobbies as it is. Thanks for all replies

Fujinon 250mm f/6.7 with 398mm image circle. I bought mine off ebay for less than $300.00 and that included shipping.

Older, single coated Fuji 210 f/5.6 (lettering around the lens, not on the lens barrel.) Should be able to find one for $300 or less. Superb lens! For even less, the more modern Fuji 210mm f/5.6 (lettering around the outside of the lens barrel,) *just* covers 8x10 straight-on and I've seen them go for $200 on Ebay.

    Politically, aerodynamically, and fashionably incorrect.

That's what I use, it's pretty sharp and it took me forever to find one.

I echo the Fujinon lenses mentioned above, the 250mm f/6.7 and the 210mm f/5.6, both with the inside barrel lettering. I have both, and they are spectacular lenses. I simply do not understand why they continue to go for such relatively low prices after all the praise they get.

Look around for a Ilex-Caltar 215mm f4.8, covers 8x10 straight on. Should satisfy your wife.

Thanks for the responses. I have a few to start looking for while I'm working on the camera. Wife will be gone next week visiting family so should have 1 holder done working on the back right after. Thanks everyone.

Tim has one of the 250mm for sale right now. These only pop up randomly. I had to look for three months for my 210mm.
