    Printing portfolios, 3-part question

    david:

i would also recommend portfoliobox in pawtucket, ri. they do really really nice work, whether it is a box, or a leather bound book. i don't have a box that was made by them, but i have a leather(ette) book that i show my work in when i am trying to sell my services. talus( another place you can go) in nyc actually outsources their custom work to portfoliobox.

    good luck with your project!

    Printing portfolios, 3-part question

Mr. Smith gave a great answer. I'll add two cents. If it's your first portfolio, keep it modest and use it as a learning experience. 5 or six prints might be a good number just to keep the whole exercise manageable. Pay attention to Michael's discussions of text, boxes, and interleaving, etc. but for a first effort don't be afraid to take some shortcuts on presentation and boxes while still maintaining a sense of care, sophistication and "classiness" in what you do.

And when this one sells out and you're famous, do the next one all the way!

Good luck, it's a great project!
