So, reassembled whole thing, and shot another version (my word these are seriously dirty holders - i forgot how much debris old wooden holders might drop on you.. grrrr.. need to buy some nice plastic 8x10 holders..)

Two lights this time, and more space to background, so i can separate planes better. Rest is same - 8x10 & etc.
    Now we getting there...

    Hi Sergei,

Very nicely done. One suggestion, if I may...

I would bring up the background on the left side, to define the left edges of the goblet and pitcher, and of the books.

I think that would enhance the depth of the image.

Bring up as in light it or as in pulling material up? I am actually thankful for suggestions, seriously. Will make v3 B/c way i see it - i need a bit more light in background, my second source was a bit too weak with film (i did test it with digital , but red modulated differently so with digital it appeared brighter). So i need to
add one more book (to differentiate version) and repeat shot May as well change background material arrangement too

Yes, I meant brightening the background, not moving it. Sorry.

This technique is often used for portraits, with one side of the face bright against dark and the other side darker against brighter.

This is a very nice shot.

Well done, stunning improvement from the earlier one! Love that faint spill to the middle background, really makes it pop.

First thing that came to mind. With that you'd nail it.
