    Light trap on lens board

Please, does anybody know which is the principle of a light trap on lens board ? Is it to prevent light leak through the hole or through the edges of the lens board ? Thanks

Yes. Some boards have a light trap around the edges (Sinar, Cambo), and some have a round light trap that fits in a hole on the front standard (Linhof).

    Light trap on lens board

I have a Tachihara with a round hole in the front standard. I made my lensboard from 2mm plywood purchased at a hobby store.

There are no light leaks....certainly it is most improbable that light would leak through the opening in the lensboard for the lens: The opening is completely sealed by the retaining nut/ring holding the lens in place.

As a practical matter, moreover, there isn't light leakage around the recesses/slots which accept the lensboard in the front standard. Just choose a material whose thickness results in a tight fit in the recesses/slots.

There are other posts on this matter; the last I saw were at the photo.net large format archive; check for yourself.
