My Pentax Digital Spot is sick!

So after 18 years of possession, my Spotmeter appears to have broken. It was working great yesterday/last night. I took it out of my pocket this morning and pulled the trigger... The internal LED lights up "0" regardless of where I point, and it snowed last night! I know it is not the battery as it is less than a year since I put a fresh one in. I'd be happy for any thoughts on this one. I am needing a fix soon as I am heading to Mendonoma at the end of the month to do some shooting.

Step one: try a new battery anyway, see what happens.

That was only the second time I have ever replaced the battery. It is a 6.2 volt oddjob. It is very strong on the voltmeter.

I don't remember if Richard Ritter also repairs them.

Cold battery? During snow camping or harsh weather moutaineering I always kept the
light meter inside a warm jacket pocket or even inside the sleeping bag at night for
this very reason. Shirakawa had similar stories about this meter traveling through the
Himalayas; but probably any kind of battery would have similar issues. For my Pentax
6x7 camera I have a remote battery cord so I can keep the actual battery warm
    in a pocket.

The battery and meter have been in the pocket of a heavy coat which has been inside since early last night. And the exposure here to the cold was just under freezing for the half a minute it left my pocket while it was held in my warm hand.

    Broken wire.
Yes I repair the Pentax digital meters.
When the batteries start to go dead due the cold they will sometimes give false reading or the readings start to flicker.

    I, too, highly recommend:

    Quality Light Metric Co.
    7095 Hollywood Blvd, Suite 550
    Los Angeles, CA 90028
    (323) 467-2265

(address current as of a few months ago).

They are the go-to people for the film industry.

However, if you have the Zone VI modified version of the Pentax digital, send it to Richard Ritter.
