My compliments, Claudio! I'm sure the electronic version doesn't do the original justice.
Wonderful work throughout the thread, really, (which is what I've come to expect in these monthly threads...)
And that really was a stunning portrait, Stephane.
Okay, back to the arguing and insults...

Let's just say that 100% of the photos here are above average.
amateur - late 18th cent.: from French, from Italian amatore, from Latin amator ‘lover,’ from amare ‘to love.’
The Pictorialist movement was founded by people who considered the work of professionals (late 19th century) to be too predictable and lacking inspiration: what today we might call "canned". Some of the early clubs admitted amateurs only.
Although many associate Pictorialism with soft focus and romantic imagery, it was more than that: pictorialists shot sharp images too. Today, we would call it "Fine Art Photography". The term pictorial was first used by Henry Peach Robinson in 1869 to distinguish fine art photography from technical, scientific, and documentary approaches.
(Please don't start an interminable debate over the merits of professionals versus amateurs. I mention this only as a matter of historical and etymological interest)
This assisted self portrait came from a session where I was demonstrating the operation of a large format camera to a new photographer.
Any comments or criticism will be graciously recieved and appreciated.
I don't care for a lot of the photos posted here. But big deal, who am I? I really appreciate the efforts people go to when posting them. Even photos I don't like make me think, sometimes more than the ones I really like.
I don't have a scanner so I never post anything. Doesn't mean that I never comment on posted photos though. Any thanks to those who go to the trouble of posting photos here.
