    direct camera exposure on ilfochrome

    Hello everyone

could anyone suggest me some literature about exposing straight on ilfochrome paper (exposure time, processing, etc), as I'm struggling to find any sensible information.

    thanks

And I've done this in the past using a fixed aperture in my old darkroom wall that took an 11X14 holder. Also used an old 8X10 for the same purpose in the field. My darkroom notebooks from the 70's are packed away somewhere so can't come up with details immediately. But I would say start with an ASA of say 2 to 4. I used a CC matrix in front of the Ciba paper to expose a white card to obtain a reasonable color balance for the type of scene illumination required. The CMY matrix was comprised of small sections cut from a set of Ciba CC filters from 0 to about 60 as I recall. Exposure is varied about the est. ASA then a clean grey is located on the test print at an appropriate reflection density and your in business using the CMY value obtained.

All rather involved and a great PITA, but the results can be predictably quite spectacular depending on your equipment and experimental ability.

Manuel, dismayed to hear it's not going well-
I've got a box of Cibachrome I haven't touched yet, but am determined to get something out of.

Here are a few of my bookmarks-

Beers Formula- a DIY two-part variable contrast, speed enhancing developer for Ilfochrome. It sounds like the Holy Grail, up there with perpetual motion machines...

This one illustrates some of the pitfalls, but ends up with an image...
    and it's quite inspiring too-

This proves that it isn't always impossible-

Don't give up just yet, and maybe you could exploit some of those disastrous results, make the most of them...

Also, I hear Ilford Warmtone is a good replacement developer too-

I heard Ilfochrome updated all there chemicals/processes so all the old notes on this might be pretty useless...
