So the brass portion is stuck, is it sticking grease ?
You can put a wrench, on the bearing that stick out on the lower picture (opposite side of the brass gear) and put a little force on it to try to turn it. The thrust bearing if google tanslate is correct.
Is the thrust bearing not being fixed with a little screw through the bearing.

Maybe there is just a faulty bearing. I suspect there is some locking pin in the hole on the side of the ring opposite of the gear. The ring is just a nut. If you have the wright tool to place in the 4 holes. It will not be a problem to disassemble.

Major breakthrough. I'll make a short video. I can convey more with those than just typing and posting pics...

During the time I was away I must have figured out what Gary was posting. His description is spot on.

The gear is reinstalled and the motor raises and lowers the head perfectly.

Apologies for not behaving in a way you see fit.

I enlarged and focused a negative last night. Drama? YES!

That is a nice piece of machinery you got there. I saw your video and if you want to give some of those negative masks a good home, i realised that my L184 actually doesn't have any negative masks. So I will be looking for those. Have you any idea what price you want for them if you decide to get rid of them?

Oh are you kidding me! Ha! I wish!

My darkroom space is still being used as a storage room while we are finishing the remainder of the basement. I was thinking I could make some small prints and process them in the shower basin, but I really have no working area to make prints.

I'll snap some pics of the work areas...it'll make better sense when you see where I'm at.

Let's say $40 for each mask pair. I can take a pic of the ones I have and start a FS thread...
