What an amazing thread!! Personal histories are really wonderful, great motivators.
Myself, I started at the drag races at bunker hill af base in Indiana with my sisters brownie. My bro. still has prints of George Montgomery's 34? Willys. Currently I'm in Colombia with a 5x7 Premo and a 4x5 Busch Pressman. Great fun to share the viewfinder with others. At a soon to be 68 the joy continues.
Warm sunshine on your back and a cool breaze on your face to all.
thanks for sharing your lives
From my post to this thread in June of '09...
"When I was born, my hair color tone was about Zone III. Now, at 61, it's about Zone VII."
Now, I am 63 and I am happy to report that I still have hair, albeit a little thinner, and the tonal value is now a half-zone greater.
I just bought a new Chamonix 4x5, so I am still in the game!

"If you want nice fresh oats, you have to pay a fair price. If you can be satisfied with oats that have already been through the horse; that comes a little cheaper."
What could be dumber than to say "How old are WE ?"
How old are YOU maybe but not WE !
I'm 39, discovered large format at 31, and stopped at 35, but 3 weeks ago arrived my new Horseman 45FA ...
Double nickels for me. So what of it?
I'm 22 years old. I havent found many young LF shooters here in Melbourne, Australia. I've been shooting large format for a few years now, although this was originally because of uni requirements.
Ten years ago my first posting on this thread was on the day after my 72nd birthday.
Still alive and kicking. Still doing LF photography.
Sure learned a lot during the last ten years.
