    B&W Film recommendation for Portraits

    Hello,

I just bought my Tachihara 4X5 and 210mm lens. I am working a portraits series and I need some recommendation for Black and White film which are good for portraits. I like lot of texture and detail. My fav in 35mm was Kodak T400.

    Thanks

Stick with it then. No reason to change.

Yeah, stick with what you know at first. If you don't like what you're getting, then you can think about changing to a different film.

I personally like ortho films for portraits, as I like that old 50's/60's look, and the deep black lips from the red lipstick, but to each his/her own

I am not sure if we have 4X5 films in Kodak T400. May be ILFORD. But in general what people are using for BW Portraits?

I am not a Tri-X devotee but, it was originally designed for use in controlled light situations, namely portraits of women and children. If you are photographing older men in whom you would like to preserve "character" lines, then a slower film such as Ilford FP4+.

I need to shoot portraits in studio with light. So may be some high ISO film ?(Kodak Tmax-400?)

320 iso instead of 400 , no big deal really!
