Pro Photo was the last place in town that did commercial film processing on site. I tried to drop off a couple of rolls for processing this morning and was turned down. Apparently they stopped even their C-41 and b&w about a month ago.
Bummer.

Sad. Here (Toronto) it now costs $9 or so for a roll of 120 and there's just a few places that will do LF C-41 sheet film.
When I was 16 I thought my father the stupidest man in the world; when I reached 21, I was astounded by how much he had learned in just 5 years!

I can do my own black and white, but due to the significance of the event I photographed, I would much rather pass on the liability to someone else if there any problems with the results.
It's not often a friend of the family has a daughter with a first birthday. The best part was that while I did it as a favor, I caught shots that the PAID photographer missed.
Your lucky (not really) we lost our last lab like 5 years ago!

Yet another plug for Edgar at http://www.4photolab.com/ lol.
You want to work with a busy lab that has enough volume to be able to afford to maintain good chemistry and processing practices. Places that are slow are not the best quality.
I was thinking of shooting some color print and slide 120 and wondering where to send it. I see Dwayne's is still going in Kansas.

E-6 in Atlanta (http://www.e-sixlab.com/film.htm) gets plenty of praise and I know they do a lot of volume. Frank's plug for Edgar Praus at every closing announcement used to be amusing. I never liked the idea of shipping my film elsewhere when I had a local lab that could handle it. I'm considering it now.
I am in Atlanta and I used to use E6 a lot. I found them to be a bit expensive and the quality was not always there for me.
My experiences with them led me to doing al of my own c41 and e6 at home.

Was always extremely happy with the quality from Aliied photocolor in St. Louis, but now their E-6 rices are way high and the service is "only when we have enough rolls to run a batch" which could day days or longer. But they also do C-41 and B&W to perfection.
I'm now using Denver Digital Imaging who run E-6 twice daily at $2.00 per 4x5 and $5.95 for 120. Great results thus far.

LTI and L&I in New York (these are two different labs) both do 8x10 E6 beautifully. I would guess they do mail in, but you would have to call.
The folks in both labs are very friendly and helpful.
