I have a question to you that use this process - is the usual big and expensive etching press the only way to make photogravure prints (either using copper plates or modern polymer plates)? Is there no other tool (easier to obtain) to use with this process - e.g. bookbinding press or something like that? Anyone tried that?
    Thank you.
Website of sorts, as well as flickr thing.

No, not to my knowledge - however there are smaller, less expensive presses out there, and there's always the used market to keep an eye on - never know what people decide to get rid of quickly

You really need an etching press to do gravure work.

You really need a press with a decent sized upper roller to get the best prints from photogravure. A small 15" conrad press with an upsized roller will work fine. They run about 1/15 the cost of a mf digital back.

There are artists groups/communities who can help to. Don't know about Progue but in NYC we have:
    Lower East Side Printshop, NYC
    Manhattan Graphics Center
    International Print Center

    Also, universities and colleges, etc.
