VTH, it sounds as though your fixer is shot. I've taught pinhole photography classes to kids and adults using Direct Positive Paper and have not had any yellowing problems. I do insist on a full 5-minute fixing time in plenty of fresh fixer. I have quite a bit of the "old" emulsion in my personal stash and have had no trouble with it, either.
Thank you all for your replies. I was wondering about the fixer. The liter I used was from a new bottle and had only fixed four 4x5 sheets and one 35mm roll prior to these prints.
I will try again with a different developer and ensure that I use fresh fixer for sufficient period of time. I think I'm going to try Liquidol and TP-4 this time around.
Harman selfie made with my version of an Afghan box camera. Exposure of 1 second at f/5.6 in shaded daylight.
The photograph and the thing being photographed are not the same thing.
FYI, for those interested, here's an updated video about this camera project.
