    My 18 year old project.

I was rummaging around in the freezer the other day. Pulling out one of my last boxes of old seagull paper.

In the corner of the freezer was a box and a half of old time Plus-X, 4x5.
I knew it was there, being saved for something special, but had not really thought about it in ages.

I notice the film expiry date was also the date of youngest daughter's birthday!

And so a little short term project was born.

To shoot the remaining 18 year since expired Plus-X of my daughter, as she turns 18.

The first few sheets were test exposures to see how the film would process.

4 sheets were shot and exposed at 320 and processed in Acufine with hangers.
4 sheets were exposed at 120 and processed with HC-110 in a Jobo at different times.

Both sets of film look great and now I will tweak a little, and expose the balance of the film slowly every week leading up to her 18th birthday.

Below is the first test, shot at 320asa.
Processed in Acufine. One Photogenic 1500 watt studio flood. I will add some soft spun for the next series, and some fill cards. These were just exposure tests.
I will post a few as we use the last remaining sheets.

Terrific project, Allen! Am looking forward to its progress.
When I was 16 I thought my father the stupidest man in the world; when I reached 21, I was astounded by how much he had learned in just 5 years!

    Thank you Richard,
I made a 13x19 print from a scan, the film has held up very well.
Tonight I will make a wet print on FB.

Very nice portrait. I guess you will be printing on your Seagull old stock...

Awesome project. I love this kind of stuff.

On my 40th birthday I found a box of Azo my Grandfather used and it expired on my birth date (the one when I was actually born). I used the paper with no fogging what so ever and printed some of his 4x5 negs and looked almost as good as the ones he printed. -- My grandfather was an immaculate printer.

I will be thrilled to see your project progress. Great idea.

Most likely, the Seagull is warm tone, it should be perfect for this.

That must have been a great find to explore too.
