Trying to find any sourse for infrared film for 4x5

I'm retiring soon and wanting to resume 4x5 as serious hobby. One of my main int erests the first time around was 4x5 infrared. I now am told that its only avail able in 35mm. Also 120 or 220 has been unavailable to my knowledge for about 20 years. It seams to me that some international sourse should be out there for eit her sheet or MF roll. I'm thinking that alot of this is distributors trying to eliminate a low volume items from special order list but that its available somewhere in the world. Any help would be appreciated. I would buy larger quantities if needed. Thanks Mike

    Mike,

The only IR film offered in sheets that I'm aware of is Macophot Infrared. It's pretty expensive, though....about $58 for 25 sheets of 4x5 at B&H. They also make this emulsion in 8x10, but talk about expensive!!!!

I've not tried this film, but I understand that its response is more similar to Konica IR than Kodak HIE. If you search photo.net or google for Macophot, you'll learn a lot.

    Mike,

As the previous poster wrote, Macophot is the only infrared emulsion available in 4x5.

The Hans O. Mahn company in Hamburg, Germany is the source of origin for this film, they have a website: www.mahn.net. The website does have an english section. Currently they offer two types of infrared film 750nm and 820nm. Take a look at the website to see which ones are in 4x5.

As I write this, the website is down :-( but probably will be up by the time you read this.

Only the 820 is available in sheet sizes - but it's available in 4x5, 8x10, and... OMIGOD 5x7! Hope they read English.

Thanks much for the help! I'll check it out. Even at ahout .25 per sheet for the 4x5 it would not be more than color after processing. I might start trying to develop my own b/w film if I can get it consistant.

Any source for MF roll out there or am I pushing my luck?

Thanks much for the help! I'll check it out. Even at ahout 2.50 (correction) per sheet for the 4x5 it would not be more than color after processing. I might start trying to develop my own b/w film if I can get it consistant.

    Mike,

There is a gentleman (Roland Elliott, I believe) who offers IR rollfilm, which he cuts down from Kodak HIE 70mm stock. He even offers Kodak's color version as well! I don't know his website, but I'm sure that someone else here does.

    Hi Mike,

You might go here for a few boxes anyway:

I'm not affiliated with the seller, just found it while surfing around.
