What the...lens takes two dives in one day!

Nikkor-SW 90mm f/8 on a Chamonix 045n-2. This never happened before in the 18 months I've been using it, but happened twice today.

Making adjustments to tilt, shift and swing, and the lens board pops out of the camera onto the pavement! I swear it was in there all the way, but I was doing more tilting, shifting and swinging than usual. All I can think of is that in doing so, perhaps something in the camera was pushing the lens upward to make it pop out. The 90mm does have a large protruding element behind the lens board.

This is quite disconcerting. I will have to hold the lens against the camera when doing this next time, which won't be easy.

Has this happened to other Chamonix users? Or with other cameras?

Well, luckily, the lens still functions without a scratch on the glass, but the rear "filter holder" is slightly bent/flattened out. Lucky I guess...

    Ouch.
Same thing happened to me last winter, but I was to blame; I didn't put the lens in with all my attention, and it fell onto the hardwood floor.
Front filter threads got a nasty-looking bump, kind of looks like a black eye.
My suggestion is to shoot a test sheet or two of some newspaper or the like, just to make sure the lens elements haven't been knocked out of place.

I have the same camera and tried to see if I could make the lens board pop out of the camera, but there is absolutely no way to get the lens board out of the camera with the locking tabs in the locked position. The lens board will not move up at all, with the locks disengaged the board will only tilt forwards.

What lens board are you using?

Could you possibly have disengaged the locking tabs that keeps the lens board in place?

this happend with my shen hao and a 300mm fujinon fell about 12 feet onto some concrete, bent the hell out of the filter ring, i should have known better than to put such a heavy lens in a small camera, the lens probably weighs almost as much as the camera.
"WOW! Now thats a big camera. By the way, how many megapixels is that thing?"
