Craig,
Exceptional work, and an impressive technical achievement. I really prefer this framing, with the greater subject distance and the dof that comes with it to the blurry nose and forehead look of a tight head shot made with max aperture.

Is this image a scan of the neg or of a print? If it's bellows sag, I would also expect complete black unless you had movement during the exposure. What technique do you use to develop your film?
It looks post-exposure to me. The dividing line is fairly sharp, and things look even on both sides of that break.

Thanks dperez, D-tach, Scott --, gandolfi, Jay, Donald, Jim Galli, Mark, Hugo, Craig, and Joe for your kind comments on the photo of Billy. It was good to be able to shoot and develop some film again!
Craig - pains me to admit it, but I have to agree with eddie... the photo of just Jesse is a photo of an interesting guy and the photo of Jesse with the guitar is an interesting photo of a musician. Sometimes "the team" makes a lesser decision... oh, well. Jesse also looks more at ease holding his instrument... then, don't we all.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!
Jay, it's always a bit painful to have to agree with Eddie

just because he is the client does not mean he knows what he is talking about or what is best. do not let him make the mistake. the 1st is just a portrait....of a guy. the second is a portrait of a musician......very different if you are putting it on an album cover.
crop it a bit if you must.....or use tilt and/or stop it down to get it in focus the 1st time.
har har har! love it!
