    Fly Geyser

I will be traveling through Nevada next week. I was considering photographing the Fly Geyser near Gerlach but know that the geyser is on private land and wanted to get permission to visit the site. I called the "Friends of Black Rock" and they said that the owner was now charging $1000.00 for permission to visit. Is this really so? Has anyone recently been to this area and what was their experience? Assuming you can visit without paying a fortune, is it a morning or evening (or both) shot?

    Don,

According to Wikipedia, Fly Geyser is owned by one Todd Jacksick of Reno, Nevada. A quick search on Pipl gave details of address and phone which I will send you by private message.

Seems like a quick phone call to him might get all your needed info.

For $1000 you might as well buy yourself a flight ticket and come and see the real one and it's younger brother Strokkur

For free see Crystal Geyser near Green River Utah.

It is a rare example of a cold water carbon dioxide driven geyser; geothermal activity does not play a role in the activity of the geyser.

And that would put you near Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park.

    Just a thought.
