Thanks all for your nice comments !!

The shallow dof has nothing to do with the proces.
as collodion is slow, you need a fast lens lens.
because of the combination of fast lens and large plate ( 18 x 24 cm which is almost 8 x 10 inch) the dof is only about 1 cm or less.

    Hi Alex,

Again stunning wet plates! One question I always wanted to ask: how do you get those "wet coal shimmering in dim light" kind of look in the darker mid-tone? Is it unique to the wet plate or it is your printing? I seem to be able to get similar effects when I still print my B&W, and following "adjust time for pure blacks, and contrast for pure white" rule of thumb. Now since I only scan negatives and post process in PS/Lr, I can not get those look any more. Thanks!

    Zheng,

i don't know exactly what you mean.
These are original positive plate which i scan.
It's difficult to het the right color tone, but i never changes contrast etc.
This what i get. so it must be typical wet plate

Yesterday we (Cor and I) met Eddie in Utrecht.
Here are some (lousy ) scans.
Took some 8x10 in front of a bar, the bartender also joined.
But she could not sit still.
It's hard to do @50 iso in the evening.

Eddie enjoying Belgium beer in front of of Cafe Belgie.
Both taken with an aprox 1890 Steinhell 270mm F4.0.

And another one with an 14"Aero, Eddie with a nice beer along the Utrecht Canal.

We had a great time over there. Till next time Eddie.
