    Another from Calgary

    Hello all,

I've been hanging around analogue for a while now, slowly working my way from 35mm to Holga to Pentax 6x7 and finally find myself here with a Calumet 4x5. I've fired off a couple pictures, but still just mostly picking my way through all the knobs/shifts/tilts...

This looks like a great site, so thanks in advance.

    Craig

Welcome to group therapy. A Calumet 4x5, either the newer rebranded Cambo or the older 400-series camera, makes a good starting point and can do pretty much anything most people need for a long time to come.

Welcome Craig. There a fair number of us hiding in the bushes around here. Happy to help with questions.

Wow, thanks guys. I know this is kind of late, but I didn't realize anyone else had posted here after the first day. Nice to know there are a few people in the neighbourhood that get the strange looks like I have been.

I'd love to meet up with you guys and learn a few things (more likely a lot of things, I'm pretty sure I know which end to look through now). I've got in-laws in Morinville, so I'm making the trip up the QEII every once in a while.

    Thanks again,
    Craig

    Hi Craig,
I'm in the Okotoks area, I hear there is a Calgary group that meets every now & then although I have never joined in.

The group you speak of is one that I started about 6 years ago. It's purpose it to support the promotion of LF photography and just generally have a good time. We meet the second Tues. of the month on a rotational basis amongst the membership.

The season is over for this year but we will be having a wind up BBQ in July. If you are interested drop me a line.

I don't play the piano, I don't have a beard and I listen to AC/DC in the darkroom. I have no hope as a photographer.
